In
2004 the World Health Organisation (WHO) produced the
World Cancer Report which concluded that diet and
nutrition play a large part in causing cancer, and can
play a large part in cancer-killing actions. There seem
to be three main causes of cancer: smoking (and other
pollution), infection, and poor diet. Action on these can
cure one third of cancers and prevent another third. So,
apart from not smoking and avoiding infection, you need
to adopt a cancer-killing diet and nutrition regime.
Number one in a cancer-killing diet is
to get a lot of nutrition from fresh fruit and
vegetables. The Western lifestyle diet of high calories
and refined carbohydrates when combined with a lack of
exercise can lead to many disease conditions. Obesity
presents a high cancer risk, so a cancer-killing diet is
one which provides healthy nutrition and reduces
unhealthy weight gain.
The
report suggests that a daily diet of 500g (1.1lbs) of
fresh fruit and vegetables will decrease cancers of the
digestive tract by 25% - a simple cancer-killing diet
nutrition tip.
Good cancer-killing diet and nutrition
advice is to eat raw, living food. An average of 50% of
the nutritional value of food is destroyed by cooking. By
raw living food, is meant fresh fruit and vegetables,
preferably locally grown. For example, wheatgrass
chlorophyll contains abscissic acid, which can kill
cancer cells on contact. Cooking destroys it.
One reason why fresh farm produce is
important as a cancer-killing diet and nutrition tool is
because it contains vitamins and antioxidants. However,
these vitamins and antioxidants require the presence of
minerals to do their work, and this can often be
overlooked. It
is said that there are 72+ minerals and trace elements
which are necessary for correct functioning of the body.
Plants extract minerals from the soil and incorporate
them into their structure. We absorb those minerals when
we eat the plants. In Sri Lanka, a rural country,
virtually all life waste is returned to the ground, which
means that the minerals which were not absorbed by their
bodies go back into the soil. Sri Lankans have a cancer
mortality rate 7.5 times lower than the USA. In developed
countries such as the USA, life waste is not replaced in
the ground. In fact, plants only really need three
minerals, so farmers just add these three in the form of
N P K fertiliser. The other 69 which we need dont
get replaced so are being leached from the soil.
Dr.
Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel prizes said "you
can trace every sickness, every disease, and every
ailment to a mineral deficiency". Everybody needs
multi minerals and multi vitamins as part of a
cancer-killing nutritional diet. You can probably get
them from a well-balanced diet provided that the
minerals are in the food in the first place. Intensive
farming methods mean they probably aren't.
A
report published in March 2001 said that over the last 50
years, calcium levels were down 75% in broccoli, copper
in watercress down 93%, sodium in runner beans down
nearly 100%, magnesium in carrots down 75%, iron down 71%
in swedes and 60% in spinach.
If you live in a developed nation your
cancer-killing diet needs its fresh food supplemented by
minerals for best nutrition. Mineral tablets are not
recommended as our bodies have trouble absorbing solid
minerals. They really need to be in liquid form, as
created by plants, which makes them bio-available.
